Men’s Rehab
Men and women struggle with substance use disorders and mental health disorders in different ways and entering a men’s rehab program that focuses on the unique needs and challenges men face can be a good option instead of a co-ed program of care. While most people are aware that men use alcohol and other substances of abuse more often than women, there are many other factors that affect men differently than women that specialized medical and clinical staff are keenly aware of.
According to a study conducted on gender differences in substance abuse disorders conducted by the Partnership to End Addiction,
“Despite being less likely than women to speak on the topic, many men have significant histories of childhood physical and sexual abuse or current victimization by domestic partners. They are more likely to die from suicide, despite being less likely to attempt it. They often feel excessive amounts of shame when dealing with emotional and substance use problems, making it less likely that they will seek out medical or behavioral health counseling for their problems. Once in treatment, men often struggle with talking about their emotions and how to deal with them appropriately.”
About Our Men’s Rehab Programs
The Admission Advisors at Sobriety Options can help men determine for themselves if a Men’s only rehab program may suit them more than a co-ed program. At first, our Admission Advisors will get to learn more about you and the specific substances that are problematic in your life or your loved one’s. We will verify your insurance benefits and let you know within 24 hours or less if your insurance will cover 100% of the cost of care. If so, our Advisors will then answer all of your questions about the Men’s only programs offered at our 7 different locations. They will also schedule a telephonic assessment with a member of our clinical and/or medical staff to determine if detox will be part of your treatment plan. If you need detox, then our medical and clinical staff will craft a tailored detox program that will include FDA approved medication to help you overcome your cravings and reduce your withdrawal symptoms. After detox, the residential portion of your stay will begin. During this course of the program, you’ll benefit from Men’s focused individual therapy sessions, men’s focused group sessions and also go on outings on the weekend.
